We have really enjoyed chatting with you about your amazing children during conferences this week! We are looking forward to meeting with even more of you next week! Next week in pre-k we’ll continue reviewing letter sounds, reading comprehension skills, and writing skills. In math, we’ll talk about time concepts like yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Hi families! The kids had bundles of fun learning about reflections this week. They created some beautiful self-portraits and loved looking in mirrors! They were excellent at subitizing in math and they practiced identifying initial letter sounds in literacy groups. When we return from spring break, we’ll begin studying force and motion! In literacy, we will learn about segmenting phonemes and identifying the last sound in a word. In math we will practice combining and naming quantities! Attached are the plans and learning packet for next week. When we return from break: April 12th, 13th, and 14th are online learning days! Our schedule will be the same as in the past! The kids really enjoyed learning about shadows and reflections this week. Check out the class Shutterfly for some fun pictures! Next week, we’ll continue studying shadows and reflections. In literacy, we will learn about alliteration and compound words. In math we will practice sorting and making patterns with coins! Attached are the plans and learning packet for next week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are online learning days! Our schedule will be the same as in the past! Log in at 8:15 for morning meeting and literacy Log in at 9:15 for math and specials or read aloud For the 9:15 math time we will be using coins! If you have any pennies, nickels, dimes, or quarters please gather them up so your child can sort and make patterns with us! It has been such a fun week! I feel like it has flown by so quickly! We learned some really interesting information about weather and clouds. In fact, we did a couple of science experiments to explore the water cycle and how clouds know when to rain. These little ones love science! Next week, we’ll talk about seasons, introduce seriation in math, and learn how to stretch out words in literacy. Here are some important dates and reminders: March 1-5 Exceptional Children’s Week Monday, March 1st- Read Across Fulton Day We will celebrate our reading successes across Fulton County. On this day, students are invited to wear the colors red, white, or blue to celebrate reading across Fulton County. Chef Reggie will be serving breakfast for lunch. Students will participate in reading activities, have virtual guest readers, as well as diversity reader who will focus on one area of diversity through age-appropriate literature. Tuesday, March 2nd- Crazy Apparel Day Express yourself by wearing a crazy hat and or crazy socks! Wednesday, March 3rd- Healthy Choices Day We will focus on making healthy life choices. Healthy options will be available for both breakfast and lunch! Thursday, March 4th-Follow your Dream What career do you dream of having when you grow up? Dress for your future career! Well, that was a short week! We packed a lot into our short week: we learned about some things that happen at night and during the day, practiced making realistic estimations, and learned about the letters K and E. Next week we will begin studying the weather, practice reading words/short sentences, and in math we will learn how to measure and compare. We had a great week in Pre-K! We learned more about the desert and we voted to study about scorpions and javelina pigs! We also learned about Ruby Bridges, practiced subitizing and comparing numbers, and celebrated Valentine’s day together. Next week we will begin learning about the earth and sky! We will also introduce how to make a realistic estimation, learn the letters K and E, and practice hearing phonemes in words. Attached are the lesson plans and packet for next week! We had a great week in Pre-K! We learned about the desert and everyone got a turn to use our new iPads! We also practiced hearing beginning letter sounds to write different animals at small group time, and practiced putting numbers in order from 0-20. Next week we’ll continue our study of deserts. We’ll also practice subitizing and comparing numbers in math. We’ll continue reading comprehension, writing, and forming words. Please note there is no school Friday the 12th. Show and tell will be Thursday the 11th Valentine’s Celebration – We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 11. -Please send in 22 signed (but NOT addressed) Valentines that DO NOT include candy or gifts -We will make Valentine bags in class -Virtual students can drop off their bags and cards at the front of the school so we can fill up their bags on the 11th! Kindness Week: HFE will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge (GKC) the week of February 8th. A Great Kindness Challenge checklist is attached for a fun way to learn and practice kindness. The checklist is an interactive tool that empowers every single student to “practice kindness” in their own way and at their own pace. Please note that the checklist has been adapted to include social distancing precautions! Dress up days for next week are optional! First of all we are so excited to see the face to face students back in the classroom on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021. It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since we’ve seen the little faces in person. In preparation for Tuesday, please put the following items in your child’s backpack:
We have been notified that school lunch will remain no cost for the rest of the year for those who choose to not bring lunch. The learning bundles for week 20 and week 21 have been put outside of the school in the normal pick up location. For face to face learners, these will be sent home on Tuesday. ***The schedule for each day for the at-home learners will return to the 8:15 homeroom sign in for morning meeting, then 9:15 sign in for math and small group on that meeting.
