Your Teachers
Becky MalcomI am so excited to be your teacher this year! This will be my fifth year at Heards Ferry Elementary. I taught preschool for five years before obtaining my Masters in Teaching from Mercer University in 2015. My husband Steve and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, and our daughter, Maddie, will be in 10th grade! What a fun year it will be for everyone!

Mary HornI’m thrilled to be continuing in the role as Pre-K Inclusion special education teacher. This is my 15th year teaching, after a 17-year previous career in business, advertising, and marketing. I have a master’s degree in teaching, earned while switching careers. I come to the classroom not only as a teacher, but as a wife and mother (my son and daughter both attended HFE, Ridgeview, and Riverwood). I’m especially proud to be one of our school’s Governance Council representatives.

I can’t wait to be your teacher this year! I have recently moved to Atlanta with my husband and our dog Maddie. We are loving it here! I received my Masters of Art in Teaching from Trinity University, TX and I have taught for a total of 5 years. I taught 2nd grade and kindergarten in Texas, New York, and New Mexico. My husband and I are so excited to call Atlanta home. We are going to have a great year in Pre-k! |

This is my fourth year back at Heards Ferry but ninth year of teaching, which included being a teacher in New York City and Chicago. I took ten years off from teaching to raise my 3 daughters (one is in middle school, and the other two are twins here at HFE in 4th grade). I grew up in Miami, FL and graduated from the University of Florida with a B.F.A in Graphic Design. I then received my Masters of Art in Teaching in Chicago. I'm so excited for a new year of teaching at HFE! |
